01 / Our story

Why we started in 2026

Chilverstone Engineering is the result of a long-standing ambition to build a workshop from scratch rather than inherit one. After [XX]+ years working in engineering — on lathes, milling machines, benches and fabrication jobs — [FOUNDER NAME] set the business up in 2026 with a simple aim: to make good parts, on time, with nothing lost in translation between the drawing and the finished component.

That means the workshop has been set up deliberately small and deliberately direct. Drawings come in, they are read properly against the material and the tolerance, a price and a lead time are given honestly, and the work is carried out by the person who quoted it.

There is no trading history to point at yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. What there is instead is experience that has been earned elsewhere and is now being applied under our own name — on every job, at every stage, with the parts checked before they leave.

We would rather be judged on the first part you receive than on a page of claims, so the shop is set up to make that first part as good as it can be.

02 / The founder

[FOUNDER NAME]

Founder and the engineer who will machine your parts.

Experience

[FOUNDER NAME] has spent [XX]+ years in engineering, working across turning, milling, precision fitting, welding and fabrication. That covers everything from a single replacement component that has to fit an existing assembly, through to small production runs where every part has to match the last one.

Approach

Drawings and samples are checked before any metal is cut. Tolerances and fits are discussed up front rather than discovered later, and if a design could be made more easily or more cheaply another way, we will say so before quoting.

Why start the business

The motivation was straightforward: to work directly with the people who need the parts, without the layers that usually sit between a customer and a machine. Chilverstone Engineering exists so that a phone call or an email reaches the person actually making the component.

03 / Values

How we work

Four things that decide how a job is handled from the first email to dispatch.

VAL-01

Precision

Work is done to the drawing and the tolerance stated on it. If a tolerance is unrealistic for the process, we will tell you before starting rather than after.

VAL-02

Quality

In-process checks during machining and a final inspection before dispatch, with the measurements recorded against the job.

VAL-03

Straight talking

Honest prices and honest lead times. If we cannot make something, or cannot make it well, we will say so instead of taking the work.

VAL-04

Investing in capability

Tooling, inspection equipment and machine capacity are added as the work requires it, so the workshop grows around the jobs it is actually asked to do.

04 / Honest note

We're new. Here's what that means for you.

We would rather set expectations clearly than oversell a business that started trading in 2026.

  • There is no standing reputation to hide behind. With no long list of previous customers to lean on, the only thing that will win the next job is the quality of the one in front of us.
  • You speak to the engineer. Questions about a drawing, a dimension or a material go straight to the person at the machine.
  • Keen initial pricing. While the portfolio is being built, we are pricing work to win it — and to earn a repeat order.
  • We will say no. If a job is outside our capability or better suited to another process, we will tell you straight away and point you in the right direction.
  • Genuine capacity. A new workshop is not fully booked, so a job can usually be started sooner than a large shop can manage.

Our experience comes from [XX]+ years of hands-on engineering. Chilverstone Engineering itself was established in 2026 and has no trading history — no customer names, project counts or accreditations are claimed anywhere on this site.

05 / Our approach

How a job runs through the workshop

The same sequence applies whether the job is a single replacement bush or a batch of a hundred.

1

Drawings checked

Drawings, sketches or sample parts are reviewed against material, tolerance and process before any metal is cut.

2

Set-up planned

Workholding, tooling and the order of operations are planned so critical dimensions are held consistently.

3

In-process checks

Dimensions are measured during machining, not only at the end, so a drift is caught while it can still be corrected.

4

Inspection before dispatch

A final check against the drawing, with records kept per job so a later question can be answered from the paperwork.

Records

Job records are kept for each part machined: material, set-up, measured dimensions and any deviation agreed with the customer. If you need dimensional results reported with the parts, ask on the enquiry and we will include them.
